Mold steel P20 pre-hardened plastic mold steel is a high quality plastic mold steel, GB standard name: 3Cr2Mo mold steel. Mold P20 has good overall mechanical properties, high harden ability, and can make the steel with large cross-sectional size to obtain a more uniform hardness. With good polishing properties, the surface roughness of the mold made of low value, with the steel manufacturing mold, – generally first tempering treatment, hardness of 28 ~ 35HRC, after cold processing made of mold can be used directly, so as to ensure the use of the mold performance, but also to avoid heat treatment caused by the deformation of the mold.
The heat treatment process of P20 mold steel is a new and improved process, compared with other domestic 3Cr2Mo mold steel, regardless of composition and smelting technology have made a lot of improvements, so it has greatly improved in machining, polishing and welding performance, especially suitable for the production of large, complex, precision molds, but also suitable for low melting point alloy mold-casting mold. Its cutting performance and polishing performance are significantly better than 45 steel, in the same polishing conditions surface roughness than 45 steel lower than 1-3 levels, manufacturing large plastic shell has been formed hundreds of thousands of times, the mold is still intact.
Physical properties parameters:
Density(kg/m3) : 7.81×103
Modulus of elasticity(room temperature) E(MPa):212×103;
Shear modulus (room temperature) G(MPa):825×103;
Poisson’s ratio μ : 0.288 ;
Mold steel P20 is generally modulated with a hardness of 28-35 HRC (i.e. pre-hardening) before being cold worked into a mold. It is suitable for the manufacture of large, medium and precision plastic molds and mold-casting molds for low melting point tin, zinc and lead alloys.
